On March 24–25, 2026, Jolanta Mačėnienė, Head of the Department of Information Systems at the Faculty of Electronics and Informatics, participated in the Digital Transformation POD meeting of the HEROES Alliance, held at the Deggendorf Institute of Technology, Germany. In the HEROES Alliance, the Digital Transformation POD is one of the thematic research groups that unite partners for joint applied research and project initiatives.
At the event, 12 representatives from 6 alliance partner institutions – Deggendorf Institute of Technology (Germany), Fontys University of Applied Sciences (Netherlands), Instituto Politécnico de Beja (Portugal), Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences (Finland), University College of Northern Denmark (Denmark) and Vilniaus kolegija / Higher Education Institution (Lithuania) – discussed the work done in the Digital Transformation POD and provided guidelines for further activities.
The meeting presented the future Horizon Europe 2026–2027 call opportunities, developed ideas for joint projects, discussed the compatibility of partners’ competencies and possible directions of cooperation. The discussions focused on digital transformation solutions in the field of healthcare and technological solutions designed to improve the efficiency of small and medium-sized enterprises.
On March 25, a visit was organized to one of the applied research units of the Deggendorf Institute of Technology – Technologie Campus Grafenau, where the meeting participants got acquainted with the local research infrastructure, ongoing activities and applied research directions. This allowed for a better understanding of the strengths of the partners and to discuss possible scenarios for future joint initiatives and project development
